Yashasvi Jaiswal, a rookie player for the Rajasthan Royals, broke many records on Thursday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata by scoring the fifty-run milestone in the quickest time ever recorded in the IPL.
In the match against the Kolkata Knight Riders, Jaiswal hit the half-century mark off only 13 balls, making it the quickest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League. The previous record for the Indian Premier League was held jointly by KL Rahul and Pat Cummins, who hit fifty runs off just fourteen deliveries.
Yashasvi caused mayhem for the Knight Riders when they were trying to reach a goal score of 150 runs by smashing their skipper Nitish Rana for a score of 6, 6, 4, 4, 2, 4 in the first six balls of their innings.
The opener remained unfazed and kept up his aggressive approach even after the Royals lost the crucial wicket of Jos Buttler in just the second over of the game.
In fact, Jaiswal attained the record-breaking half-century mark in the very next over of the chase by hitting Shardul Thakur for a hat-trick of fours. This allowed Jaiswal to beat the previous record by one run. He reached his fifty after hitting seven fours and three sixes in the course of his inning.
The final score was Rajasthan’s victory by nine wickets, and they reached their goal in 13.1 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal stayed unbeaten after scoring 98 runs off 47 balls. He had struck out five sixes and 12 fours throughout his inning.
